Training

Co-regulation in the classroom is one of the most powerful supports an educator can offer students who are overwhelmed or struggling to stay connected to learning. Many learners, particularly those who have experienced trauma, have not yet developed the internal skills needed to calm their bodies and minds during moments of distress. For these students, an adult’s presence becomes a stabilizing force. Co-regulation reflects the understanding that an adult’s tone, posture, pacing, and emotional stability can help students return to a level of calm where they feel safe enough to communicate and learn. Educators who approach student behavior with curiosity rather than assumptions are better able to recognize when student actions stem from stress rather than intentional defiance.

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Understand core concepts of co-regulation

  • Strengthen personal emotional awareness

  • Create emotionally supportive learning environments

  • Apply developmentally aligned co-regulation practices

  • Support long-term student regulation growth

This course will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
